What is a DNG File?

DNG file extension refers to a raw Image format. Short for Digital Negative Image File, DNG format was developed by Adobe systems. This open and royalty free raw image format was first launched in 2004. Justifying its original name, DNG files are truly digital negatives captured by digital camera sensors. DNG file contains every bit of details captured by a digital cameras sensor. The image data is uncompressed and kept in a lossless state. DNG files are smaller than most other raw file formats. DNG files are native to some Digital Cameras (Leica and Hasselblad). CorelDRAW is a powerful software for post processing DNG files.
