1. Start a new symmetry
Right-click on the page or on an object and choose Create New Symmetry. You can also find it under Objects > Symmetry.
2. Set up your symmetry lines
Drag the symmetry lines in your drawing window to position and rotate them or enter exact values on the property bar. You can add multiple lines for more complex, kaleidoscope-style effects.
- Select the symmetry axis and press P to center it on the page
3. Draw in your symmetry group
Now, just draw. Every stroke, shape, and detail will mirror across your symmetry lines as you go.
- If a hand-drawn curve leaves a small gap at the symmetry line, click Fuse Open Curves to close it
4. Preview and finish
Use the Show Full Preview toggle to switch between a full-color view and a wireframe view. This hides the symmetry lines if they're getting in the way. Click Finish once you're happy with the result.
5. Keep editing or make it permanent
Even after clicking Finish, you can click Edit to go back in and adjust anything, from the axes to the objects themselves.
When you're done, Break Symmetry Link converts everything into a regular group of objects. Remove Symmetry deletes the copies and reverts to your original shape.
Because everything stays adjustable until you say otherwise, the Symmetry tool lets you experiment freely and land on the best design without redrawing a thing.
